Some people picked Kentucky freshman John Wall to be the SEC Player of the Year. Some college basketball analysts picked Wall as the National Player of the Year. Those same people might not even see him play college basketball this season. The Louisville Courier-Journal asked SEC Commissioner Mike Slive at SEC Basketball Media Day if Wall and Mississippi State's Renardo Sidney were facing amateurism questions and Slive responded, "As far as I know." We assume that this will turn out to be a similar situation to Tennessee running back Bryce Brown, but it does raise a red flag when you find out that Wall's AAU coach was a certified agent with FIBA. Kentucky fans will love John Calipari for his success on the court, but his teams will always be surrounded by controversy off the court.
