College Football: Weekend Overreactions

It’s always the weekends with the seemingly boring slate of games that give us the dramatic upsets. Here are our thoughts from a jacked up week:

• The conspiracy theorists aren’t crazy, they’re just hyper-perceptive. We haven’t fashioned our aluminum foil hat just yet, but the SEC is a in a defenseless position. It’s unreasonable to believe that the replay official in Saturday’s LSU/ Bama game believed that the pass was incomplete. It reminds us of the NBA in the early first part of the decade. If you’re going to beat Alabama or Florida right now, you have to beat them and the whistle.
• Everyone (except Cincy) is merely 1 injury away from irrelevancy. Ricky Stanzi’s injury cost Iowa a perfect season. If Patrick Peterson doesn’t leave the game with cramps on Julio Jones TD reception we aren’t even discussing this interception business. Where would Florida be if Tebow went down? Ask yourself the same question for Texas and McCoy.
• Paul Johnson carries around a set of magnificent grapefruit sized brass ones. Tech’s coach passed on a tying field goal in overtime to go for it on 4^th and 1. Tech not only got the 1^st down, but continued on to score the game winning td. Every college football fan should check in on what Johnson and Tech are doing each week. There may not be  a more compelling coach in all of sports.
• My name is Will West and Lane Kiffin is the f-ing truth. In a matter of 5 weeks, Jonathan Crompton has gone from the worst QB that we’ve ever seen at the major college level to the 3^rd best signal caller in the conference. We all knew that Monte would have the defense dialed up, but Lane and Jim Cheney deserve medals for their work with on offense with Crompton at QB and a makeshift line featuring not 1, but 2 Sullins.
• Joey and Jen from Dawson’s Creek have grown up to be hotter than Kelly, Jesse, and Lisa from Saved by the Bell and we just can’t wrap our brains around it. Okay, so not so much college football related, but true nonetheless.
