So Knotes are Will West’s views on the world of sports from the office window of his South Knoxville abode…you know, once you look past the empty strip malls and kudzu.

• Jimmy Clausen should, but won’t win the Heisman. Halfway through the season Clausen’s running away with the nation’s passing crown while playing against a relatively formidable schedule. For all of the preseason belly aching that we did here in SEC country about Notre Dame’s easy road to a BCS game, Georgia and Arkansas are the only schools in the conference that can make the argument that they’ve played a tougher schedule than the Irish. Tim Tebow’s probably going to win the award despite averaging about 16 pass attempts and 60 yards rushing per game.

• The SEC is what we thought that it was before we thought that it was improved. This season’s starting to look a lot like last year, Bama and Florida are dominant, with the rest of the league’s finishing about 8-4. It reminds me of the Big Ten 5 or 6 years ago when Michigan and Ohio State pounded everyone and the rest of the conference fought it out to see who was going to play in the Outback Bowl.

• We’ll all care about college hoops by Thanksgiving. Check out the 76 Classic field. A lot of people say that they don’t get into hoops until football’s over. This seasons early tournaments should change that.

• Yanks and Phills in the World Series. Dodgers/ Yanks would be more entertaining. Angels/ Dodgers would have more storylines. Heck, Phillies/ Halos would probably be the most fun series to watch. I just have a hard time seeing either of the West coast teams pulling off the win. The Dodgers added a couple of lefties but are probably still a year away. The Yankees have too many fly-ball hitters not to see them winning all four in New York.

• No one does less with more than NASCAR. We truly believe that people want to like NASCAR, but the sport’s management will not give them a chance. Jimmy Johnson (the Tim Duncan of motor sports) is about to run away with another title and no one cares. The Chase is a joke and officials telling drivers not to race with Chase contenders is just pathetic. The casual fan can’t relate to the cars, drivers, or rules. Why else should they watch?

• I’m fulfilling every negative male stereotype about Erin Andrews. It used to mean something when EA was on the sideline. Now that everyone’s seen her naked she might as well be Eric Dickerson. I’m ashamed for me.
