Bristol Motor Speedway

Tennessee-Va Tech in Chick-fil-a Bowl: Fans of both of these schools have wanted this game played at Bristol Motor Speedway, but they will have to settle for the Georgia Dome on Dec. 31. This will be a great matchup for both schools and hopefully this gives both schools the idea to turn this game into a nice Southern rivalry. Beamer Ball should concern Tennessee fans as Frank Bearmer’s special teams always dominate inferior opponents. Former walk-on kicker Devin Mathis and punter Chad Cunningham will have nightmares leading up to the Chick-fil-a Bowl.

Here are some of the idiots that will vote for Tebow: We all know that former Heisman Trophy winners get a vote for the Heisman and now there is a list of confirmed journalists that also get a vote. You will recognize some of these names, but you will be baffled by some of the people on this list. This list seems a little dated, but I am a little concerned that Trev Alberts and Jemele Hill were on this list. Keep in mind that the majority of the voters in the South and Verne Lundquist will mistakenly vote for Tim Tebow. If Stanford’s Toby Gerhart played on the East Coast, the voters would have already voted for Gerhart.

Extensions for Patterson and Spurrier: South Carolina will recommend a one-year extension for Steve Spurrier and TCU signed Gary Patterson to a long-term extension. Spurrier finished strong with a big win over Clemson and TCU is a SEC Championship blowout, a Cincinnati loss to Pittsburgh and a Texas loss to Nebraska away from playing for the BCS Championship. It is shocking that a bigger football program hasn’t hired Patterson by now.

Dunlap not likely to play against Alabama: Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap decided to go Eugene Robinson and got arrested the week of his team’s championship game. The future first-round pick was arrested Tuesday morning for a DUI. Dunlap is one of the most dominant players in the SEC and his father told the Orlando Sentinel that his son is likely out for the big game. If Florida fans want to know how much losing a star affects a team, they need to look at Alabama last year in the Sugar Bowl without Andre Smith. The Gators are still loaded with talent, but Urban Meyer can’t be happy with Dunlap deciding to make this stupid decision the week of the SEC Championship.
