Just Like We Told You: West Out at Memphis

 

It started with a pathetic attempt at humor and it ends with Tommy West losing his job. Memphis fired coach Tommy West two days after losing 56-28 to Tennessee. The Vols played motivated all game and Lane Kiffin used everything from an onside kick to a halfback pass to make his point. West made a dumb joke before the season about Kiffin selling a lying dog and multiple Tennessee players mentioned how they had Kiffin's back against Memphis. We told you back in October that West is going to get fired at Memphis and West even went on a Memphis radio show and called the report a boldface lie.

• Mike Dubose: former Alabama coach currently at Milsaps College
• Jeff Bower: former Southern Miss coach
• Rick Stockstill: currently at MTSU
• Gus Malzhan: Auburn Offensive coordinator
• Phillip Fulmer: former Tennessee coach, but school expects to compete with Virginia for his services
• Hugh Freeze: Lambuth coach
• Larry Porter: LSU assistant
• Terry Bowden: Northern Alabama coach
• Tommy Tuberville: former Auburn coach, school expects other interest as well
