Furman Bisher’s Parting Shots

Furman Bisher

If you grew up in the South, then you read Furman Bisher's award-winning columns on a daily basis. It was a sad time this week when Bisher wrote his last column with The AJC, but Jeff Schultz let him take some parting shots in his Countdown column. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Bisher on Mark Richt: "I like Mark Richt — I just wish he was more authorative. I wish he’d stop being [so wholesome] and start being an [backside expletive] for once. Nice guys don’t win in college football.”
  • Bisher on Atlanta Braves general manager Frank Wren: "I don’t think much of [Frank Wren], to be honest with you. You asked me for an honest answer and I gave you one.”
  • Bisher on the Atlanta Falcons and Athur Blank: Bischer thinks the Atlanta Falcons will be the next team in Atlanta to win a title and said, "I don’t know if I can give Arthur Blank much of the credit. I don’t know if he got lucky. I don’t know what led him to Thomas Dimitroff. But I know Dimitroff led him to this.”

We will miss Bisher's columns and look forward to hearing more stories about the award-winning columnist.
