Meet the NBA’s Version of the New Orleans Saints

Gilbert Arenas

Every once in a while, we are right with our predictions. We told you back on Sept. 9 that the New Orleans Saints would be this year’s version of the Arizona Cardinals. Not only did we predict that correctly, we also mentioned the Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals as other teams that have a chance to make a Super Bowl run. As you can see, we did pretty well with that prediction. Can we make a similar prediction in the NBA?

The answer one again seems pretty obvious, as there is one team that had only 19 wins last season that we expect to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Now that they added a terrific coach to one of the best starting lineups in the NBA, the Washington Wizards will be the New Orleans Saints of the NBA.

Gilbert Arenas might barely be talking to the media this season, but he will have a strong season and will be the NBA Most Improved Player. He only played 15 games the past two seasons, but he will prove doubters wrong by having a healthy season. People forget that Arenas averaged almost 30 points and six assists in 2005 and 2006. Antawn Jamison will miss a couple of week to start the season and this team has the depth to make up for his absence.

Now that Caron Butler has lost 10 pounds due to giving up Mountain Dew (seriously), he will make the All-Star team and will come close to leading the league in steals. The Wizards stole Mike Miller and Randy Foye away from the Minnesota Timberwolves and both players will add scoring to this offense. The key will be the health of Brendan Haywood and he had 10 rebounds in yesterday’s win over the Dallas Mavericks. Keep an eye on Nick Young, Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee as the surprise players on this team.
