Cardinals-Packers Preview

Charles Woodson

Today could be Kurt Warner’s last NFL game as the former NFL MVP is rumored to retire after the season. Warner is capable of making another magical run like he did last season, but he is facing a very opportunistic Green Bay defense. The Packers lead the NFL with 30 interceptions and the Arizona Cardinals are 0-4 this season when Warner throws at least two interceptions. Anquan Boldin is not expected to play, but the Cardinals are 5-1 the past two seasons without Boldin. The problem is that wide receiver Steve Breaston is not having the same strong season that he had last season and this offense will not have enough weapons against the Packers.

The Packers are prone to give up a lot of passing yards like they did in the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but I expect defensive coordinator Dom Capers to send a lot of blitzes against Warner and Charles Woodson should have a key interception sometime during this game. Peyton Manning won the NFL MVP earlier this week and the guy that beat him for the Heisman Trophy, Woodson, is set to win the Defensive MVP. Keep an eye on Packers running back Ryan Grant as he quietly has 1,253 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Expect Grant and Woodson to lead the Packers to a 31-21 win.
