Listening to Van Pelt today and couldn’t help but think during his interview with Curtis Martin, “Why isn’t it assumed that he’ll make the Hall of Fame”. Take a look at his resume:
- Fourth in rushing yards all-time
- Third in rushing attempts all-time
- Seventh in yards from scrimmage all-time
- Twelfth in career rushing touchdowns
- Nineteenth in total career touchdowns
- 5 time Pro Bowler
- 2 time All-Pro
- One of only 2 players to rush for more than 1,000 yards in first ten seasons (along with Barry Sanders)
Yet we rarely here the guy’s name mentioned in connection with the HOF. Martin should be a sure fire first-balloter. Let’s hope that the voting members of the media are savvy to that.
