If Peyton Manning is going to win another Super Bowl before his career ends, he is going to need his offense to improve dramatically over last season. The Indianapolis Colts have already made a big change in training camp by replacing starting left tackle Tony Ugoh with Charlie Johnson. Ugoh did very well working with Manning in the past, so we will see how this one plays out. Manning said bye to his old buddy Marvin Harrison in the offseason and Colts fans are hoping that Anthony Gonzalez is ready to take that next step to become an elite receiver next to Reggie Wayne. While the Colts need Gonzalez to have a strong season, the one person that will be responsible for helping Manning get another Super Bowl ring is running back Donald Brown.
The former Connecticut running back is 5-10, 210 lbs and had a very successful career at Uconn. Brown rushed for 2,083 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Huskies last season. A very positive sign for Colts fans is that Brown rushed for 186 yards against Pittsburgh and 261 yards against Buffalo in his final two games. Brown is a very explosive back that was one of the most consistent backs in all of college football.
Running back Joseph Addai should have a better season now that he is healthy. If Addai struggles again or gets injured, expect Brown to start for the Colts and never ride the pine again for the Colts. This was a very good draft pick for the Colts and Manning should be very happy now that he has another weapon added to his offense. There is a chance that Pierre Garco and burner Austin Collie both have very good seasons and help Manning have another Pro Bowl season. The more realistic scenario is that if Manning is every going to win another ring, he is going to need to write a big thank you note to Mr. Brown.
