There are so many things that one could point to as the difference in the game: Colts lack of possessions (just 8 in the game). Brees’ accuracy. Saints ability to pick up yards after the catch.
All of those things are true, but we think it’s as simple as turnovers. Colts committed one, Saints didn’t.
There’s going to be a lot of talk about Peyton’s legacy after this one. Can a QB with a .500 record in the postseason really be among the greatest to play the game? Probably not. Peyton needs one more ring to cement himself onto the Mount Rushmore of QB’s.
The bigger question for us is Brees legacy. Is he a hall of famer now? He’s over the 30 thousand yard magic number. He followed up a year where he fell just 17 yards short of the single season passing record with a Super Bowl win.
Even bigger question: How much did Sean Payton and his staff outcoach Jim Caldwell and his?
Biggest question: How long can the Colts keep this team together? Is the window closing?
