Schagren Says

erin andrews

Schagren Says: is a collection of random thoughts and predictions from the most random person in Knoxville, TN.

Erin Andrews better be ready for a long season: ESPN reporter Erin Andrews is going to face plenty of inappropriate chants from fans all season. Fans that have seen the video of her naked in her hotel room will find ways to mention it during games. ESPN’s Joe Schad said on The Sports Animal in Knoxville that he always hears chants like, ‘YOU’RE NOT ERIN…” This will be lame compared to some of the chants fans direct towards Andrews.

Some SEC reporters are idiots: A big deal was made out of South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier not voting Florida quarterback Tim Tebow to the All-SEC First Team. (I am saying Spurrier because I don’t believe his story that another member of his staff was the one that made the mistake.) We should make a bigger deal that a small collection of writers didn’t vote Tennessee safety Eric Berry and Tebow to the first team. Maybe I give writers to much credit, because baseball writers don’t even make players like Cy Young and Babe Ruth unanimous selections to the Hall of Fame. Writers: check you’re ego at the door, the awards are about the players, not your little ink pen.

Rickey Henderson will steal the show Sunday: The best stolen base threat in the history of MLB is being inducted into the Hall off Fame on Sunday. Jamey Schagren prays that Henderson does the whole speech in third person. Henderson was one of the first players to have swagger, so expect one hell of a performance today. By the way, Rickey still thinks Rickey can play, no seriously.

Big Ben is telling the truth: Athletes have lied to us before, but I am on Ben Roethlisberger’s side in this case. This seems very similar to the Kobe Bryant case and I expect Big Ben to fight this and not settle out of court. It would be a shame if the unwanted attention distracts the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers all season. The defending champs could be even better with running back Rashard Mendenhall and wide receiver Limas Sweed having bigger roles this season. The last thing this team needs is a distraction from some attention-getting girl (real close to using another word here).

Jeremy Mayfield is on meth as you read this: Anybody believe this NASCAR driver? You shouldn’t. I hope we never hear from him again.

  • In regards to Jeremy Mayfield: it's one thing to fail a drug test due to a unlikely faulty test, but it completely ridiculous to use the excuse that the drug test is wrong twice.

  • Writers that don't make guys like Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb are using their votes to exact revenge on these guys. They vote on the merit that these men weren't the best human beings, when it has nothing to do with that. So good point on that. However if I was you I would hold off on victimizing Roethlisberger. Sure we learned a lot from Kobe and the Duke Lacrosse case, but those victims didn't have the brass and security of a major casino making threats against them. I don't know if he did it or not, but her reasons for waiting a year seem legitimate. Just check out the timeline here:
