Chip Kain over at My Coach is Better called us last night to let us know that he’s reporting that Muschamp was still in play and a meeting between he and Mike Hamilton would take place overnight or this morning. Chip is also reporting that David Cutcliffe would be named coach as early as today if Muschamp officially turns down the job.
Just a quick fyi, last year Chip told me that he Lane Kiffin would be Tennessee’s coach a day before anyone else reported it.
Our source is telling us that Mike Hamilton did not go to Denver to meet with a corporate sponsor as he stated in his presser on Wednesday. Hamilton was meeting with the Neinas Brothers search firm in Colorado.
Our source also says that Kiffin was upfront about his desire for the job, and after Del Rio wasn’t fired from Jacksonville, the deal was done with USC by 1pm Tuesday.
