Believe it or not, there is actually breaking news that involves Tennessee football and it will be without UT hostesses. ESPN reported that Notre Dame will hire Brian Kelly and it is unsure if he will coach Cincinnati in the Sugar Bowl. My bet is he leaves school early as the Fighting Irish need some strong recruiting classes to replace Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate. Kelly is a great fit for Notre Dame and this should help the progress of the freshmen quarterbacks that are committed to the Fighting Irish.
Speaking of Notre Dame quarterback commitments, many Tennessee fans were hoping that the Vols would receive a commitment from Andrew Hendrix or Tommy Rees if they left Notre Dame. Hendrix is rated as the 13th best pro-style quarterback according to Rivals. The reason why the Notre Dame hire is bad news for Tennessee is the fact that Kelly is one of the best quarterback coaches in the country and he will be very familiar with Hendrix, considering he is from Cincinnati.
Lane Kiffin did a fantastic job with Jonathan Crompton this season and quarterback prospects should have confidence in his ability to turn them into pro players. It will be interesting to see how much the UT hostesses' situation affects Tennessee’s recruiting. The Vols could use another quarterback to pair with Tyler Bray, but it will be hard to get one from the Fighting Irish. For once, it looks like the Fighting Irish made a good decision with this hire.
